Latisse is widely known to treat Hypotrichosis. Formulated in the laboratories of Allergan, Inc. and was disclosed to the public as the only ophthalmic solution for Hypotrichosis and eyelash growth by the Food and Drug Administration told by the Allergan.
Latisse is a consequent of Lumigan. The users of Lumigan have been noticed to grow lavish eyelashes which have driven the people behind Allegran, Inc. to come up to another solution which will mainly for hypotrichosis or eyelash growth, and so Latisse was made. The bimatoprost in Lumigan was the factor in the growth of eyelashes. The bimatoprost acts as receptors and stimulates hair follicles to grow new hairs, as to the case of eyelashes, the bimatoprost stimulates in the hair follicles in the eyelids to grow new set of healthy eyelashes.
Since the bimatoprost in latisse can stimulate hair follicles, many have tried to use Latisse for eyebrows, assuming that since it is for abnormal hair growth, may it then be applied to eyebrows. Fortunately according to people who have used latisse for eyebrows, it really worked well. And from then on Latisse is now also a treatment to those who have thin eyebrows.
Latisse causes discoloration of the skin when constantly drop into some areas around the eyelids, so it is also possible when latisse is applied to eyebrows. To avoid skin discoloration, drop a minimum amount of latisse for eyebrows, and if possible try not to spill the solution outside the areas of the eyebrows.
When Latisse is used for eyebrows, the only side effect is the discoloration of the skin around eyebrows, unlike when Latisse is applied to the eyelids for eyelash growth; several side effects will be experienced by the user. Side effects like, reddening of the eyelids, swelling of the eyelids, discoloration of the skin around the eyelids, discoloration of the iris when the solution is spilled constantly inside the eyes, dizziness and headache. But the side effects are considered temporary, with constant use of the solution, the minor changes in the applied area will alleviate, but, not with the latest mentioned side effect, the discoloration of the iris. This change is permanent, whether to stop or continue the use of latisse, such discoloration of the iris will not turn back to its previous color prior to application of the solution.
However, many are still using latisse despite the change it can cause to the iris color. But precautions are also dispensed to somehow guide the latisse users prior or upon using this ophthalmic solution. Like, consult a doctor before using latisse when you are already using other eye drop medicine, also if you are having serious internal problems. And, stop using the solution if the solution liquid has changed its color, go to the nearest pharmacy or to the store where you bought the latisse and ask for explanation and clarification of the color change of the liquid. Also, when the tip of the dropper is broken, stop using the dropper and get a new one, to avoid some elements that have already contaminated the dropper and might be also dropped into your eyes.
Although, Latisse contributes more to eyelash growth and possesses only minor side effects, one must still be responsible in using the solution to avoid further damages.
